Critical Hit!

A funny flip book animation (not) about the history of the life, the universe and everything, with the compulsory Terry Gilliam reference in the end.

The short is the work of Jamie Bell AKA Displeased Eskimo, and has been quite popular since being posted on Youtube one month ago.

The music is the galop infernal from Jacques Offenbach’s operetta Orpheus in the Underworld, also known as just “the can can”.

In order to have the full frame, I’ve removed the titles from the compressed version. You find them in the 720p versions as well as on Youtube.

Divertente animazione flip book che (non) tratta la vita, l’universo e tutto quanto, con l’obbligatoria citazione finale a Terry Gilliam.

Il corto è opera di Jamie Bell alias Displeased Eskimo, ed è diventato molto popolare dopo che il mese scorso è stato postato su Youtube.

La musica è il galop infernal dall’operetta buffa Orfeo all’inferno di Jacques Offenbach, anche nota semplicemente come “il can can”.

Per poter sfruttare a pieno lo schermo, ho rimosso i titoli dalla versione compressa. Li trovate nella versione in 720p, nonché su Youtube.

I walk away

A trigger happy (and less safe for work) music video, inspired to the Max Fleischer era cartoons, so that it could remind of Black Thin King, Lollipop and other similar promos.

Team William is a Belgian indie pop band comprised of Floris De Decker, Bert Moerman, Arne Sunaert and Douwe Van Maele.

You Look Familiar is the third single off their eponymous debut album, released in 2009 for Keremos.

The music video has been directed by Michélé De Feudis and Joris Bergmans of Nouvelle Cuisine.

Additional artists: Lois Van Baarle, Maxim Vandeputtem, Michèle Vanparys, Koen De Koninck.

Un video allegro (e poco adatto al luogo di lavoro), ispirato ai cartoni dell’era di Max Fleischer, per cui potrebbe ricordarvi Black Thin King, Lollipop ed altri promo del genere.

A thousand trees.

And still, one day the trees will take their revenge on us and feast on our remains (with their friends, the fungi).

Alberi (Trees) is a poetic documentary about trees, made by 22 Italian pupils (9 years old) during Art and Music classes.

The short film has been directed and edited by their teacher, Raffaella Traniello, using only free software: Cinelerra CV running under the Edubuntu operative system.

Eppure, un bel dì, gli alberi si prenderanno la loro rivincita e banchetterano assieme ai funghi sui nostri resti.

Alberi è un documentario poetico sugli alberi, fatto di 22 alunni di una quarta elementare durante le ore di musica ed arte.

Il corto è stato diretto e montato dalla loro insegnante, Raffaella Traniello, usando solo software libero: Cinelerra CV in esecuzione sotto il sistema operativo Edubuntu.

I guess I’m a little bit late at the party, but lately I’m late at all parties, and hence I guess that’s OK.

So, join “Stanley Portobello, the famous but discreet spyparazzi! Although he had a lot of hard work to do, he never lost his artistic sense of espionage.”

A short film by Art Grootfontein. The soundtrack is A Shot in the Dark¹ by Henry Mancini from the movie of the same name.

The titles soundtrack is Days of Wine and Roses² (again, from the movie…) by Henry Mancini, as performed by Dizzy Gillespie.

Immagino di essere un po’ in ritardo, ma ultimamente sono sempre in ritardo, quindi va bene lo stesso.

Unitevi a “Stanley Portobello, il famoso ma discreto spiaparazzo! Sebbene abbia un sacco di lavoro da fare, non perde mai il suo senso artistico dello spionaggio.”

It wasn’t by chance I updated the Happy Holidays 2005 post this morning. The old short has been replaced with this new one.

I think that being superstitious brings bad luck, but these collection of good luck symbols is a beauty.

The short has been animated by Adam Gault, based on illustrations by Stefanie Augustine.

Matt Burnett and Ben Levin (AKA For Tax Reasons) made a couple of follow-ups to their Christmas themed movie in form of video responses to the movie itself.

In this one, Barry addresses the author’s lack of geekery about LARPing rules.
