Hey there! Pardon the little break. I thought I could start the week with this “animated dark comedy about a vacationing couple’s encounter with a man they believe to be the Zodiac Killer.” I guess that happens at least once to everyone of us.

Something Left, Something Taken is an awesome and crafty animated short film created by Max Porter and Ru Kuwahata AKA Tiny Inventions. Be warned: every time you’ll blink your eyes, you lose something cool.

JAMIE CALIRI – The Sun and the Seed

This is a short film about hope and community. It was made for a friend and mentor who was suffering from lung cancer. The film was shown at a benefit to help with his hospital costs. He has since passed away.

The words are by director Jamie Caliri. He animated the film with production designer Alex Juhasz. They shot with a special, home brewed, 4×5 inches view camera rig and Dragon Stop Motion Software .

The music is String Quartet number 5 composed by Philip Glass as performed by the Kronos Quartet.

SSRP: Embrace Life

In the words of SSRP’s Neil Hopkins, the spot manages to provoke a strong emotional response in the viewer by means of a strong emphasis on positive messaging and imagery, rather than relying on shock tactics.

Here is a “short film about a young boy in India chasing after his dream.” The lesson learned here: once you learned the lesson then go and put it into practice.

The short film has been directed and animated by Nicolas Athané, Méryl Franck, Alexis Liddell, Andres Salaff and Maïlys Vallade. Produced at Les Gobelins in Paris as an opening film for the Annecy Film Festival 2008.
