ANTHONY PENTA – You Ruined Everything

You Ruined Everything is the story of the morbid aftermaths of a morbid love(?) relationship. Combining a grotesque setup, an unreal photography and a non annoying voice over (a touch of Dexter, I’d say) the film manages to be funnily disturbing. Or disturbingly funny.

Starring Arthur Simone, the short film has been written, directed and edited by Anthony Penta at Pentaworks.

The short animation is the work of Stephen Fitzgerald, second place at the Motion Design tournament of the Cut & Paste Global Championships in New York. The audio track has been provided by Tilted Head Of Compassion.

Rapa Nui

The short movie – the work of Florian Belmonte, Chloé Bonnet, Cyrille Chauvin, Gaëlle Diot and Eleonora Marinoni, students of LISAA – offers an improbable as well as picturesque explanation for the moai monoliths, the giant stone heads to be found on Easter Island.

I’m about to read about the rise and fall of the Rapa Nui society in Jared Diamond’s Collapse (great book, so far) but it’s nice to see the story from a different point of view.

TAKEUCHI TAIJIN – Stop Motion with Wolf and Pig

Fight for the things you love. Run after them, do all you can to get their very heart. And in the end you and them will be one and only thing.

This amazing stop animated short film is the work of Takeuchi Taijin: photos are shot, rearranged to compose the frame, and then photographed again.

I’m using the word photomation to point out those shorts that use this same technique, like PEN Story and Photo Finish.

Guerre Naïve

Guerre Naïve is an outstanding short films by four students of Supinfocom: Bruno Mayor, Wei Bi, Rémi Danneels, Rémy Dubois. Sound by Yann van der Cruyssen AKA Morusque.

The movie has obviously all been made in 3D, despite of the stop animation look and feel. In fact, the style the authors achieved has really a peculiar quality, that actually reminds of East Asian animation.
