Pig Me

A poor pig escapes from the butcher’s claws just to find himself in horrible surroundings. Fortunately, he’ll find a refuge in a little pet shop… Fortunately?

Pig Me is a short film by five students of Animation Workshop: Mette Tange, Israel Hernanadez, Ditte Gade, Marie-Louise Højer Jensen, Rebecca Bang Sørensen.

It reminds me of that scene at the beginning of 101 Dalmatians. And it is as good as that!

The Moulettes – Devil Of Mine

It’s hard to resist temptations. Especially when you see no reason to do so. Not that this has something to do with the video…

The Moulettes is a folk band from Brighton, London, comprised of Hannah Miller, Ruth Skipper, Ollie Austin, Roberto Arcari and Georgina Leach.

Devil Of Mine is featured on their first album entitled, as you might have guessed, The Moulettes and released on August 2010.

Motus et bouche cousue (Sealed Lips) is a short film by three students of the Gobelins school: Adrien Soyty Liv, Grégory Mougne and Coline Veith.

Yeasayer – Madder Red

We witness the final day of Bommel, a creature that looks like a fuzzy egg and lives with Kristen Bell in Mar Vista, California.

Yeasayer was previously here with Wait for the Summer. Madder Red is the third single from their album Odd Blood released on February 2010 for Secretly Canadian.

The music video has been produced at Streetgang and directed by Andreas Nilsson, recently here with Röyksopp’s Adventures in Barbieland.

Circus: The Human Projectile

A bittersweet portrait of a nostalgic man.

The Human Projectile is the pilot episode of Circus, a stop motion animated series where the main attractions of a traveling circus get stuck in an unfamiliar place.

While their efforts to leave become more and more desperate, they slowly realise that the surroundings are influenced by strange powers.

The short film is the work of Hylas Film, that is: Philipp Halfmann, Benjamin Lützow, Michael Amstad, Dominik Mader.

For a Minor Reflection – A Moll

Since space and time are the same, how would it feel spending space with somebody? And zooming in time? I’ll give you the answer next space…

For a Minor Reflection is a post-rock band from Reykjavík, Iceland, comprised of Kjartan Holm, Guðfinnur Sveinsson, Elvar Jón Guðmundsson, Andri Freyr Þorgeirsson.

A Moll is a song on their second album, entitled “Reistu þig við, sólin er komin á loft…” (which means “Rise and shine, the sun’s up”) and released in 2010.

The music video has been directed by Lorenzo Fonda (Cerberoleso), produced by Lanette Phillips and Catherine Berclaz at Mighty8.

Kananana

Under the gleaming, lifeless sprawl of an alien dystopia, a desperate top-secret experiment is taking place. A machine is built to travel beyond the depths of space and time. It finds a primitive dimension and a planet whose inhabitants seem to have been expecting it.

First They Came…

A social campaign based on Martin Niemöller’s famous dictum First they came… about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group.

I don’t think that those times are coming back, but I feel a rising wave of, not just xenophobia, but discrimination against everyone perceived as different. As Twain said, history doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.

Quadron – Slippin

An audition turns into tongue in cheek comedy, then musical crescendo, then surreal tragedy, fast paced action and finally speculative metaphysics.

Quadron is a Danish pop group comprised of Robin Hannibal and Coco. Slippin is on the eponymous debut album released for Plug Research.

ANAT COSTI – On My Doorstep

There’s no place to hide: if you don’t go and have a life, life will come and have you…

The film was created by Anat Costi, a recent graduate of the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, where she studied both 3D and 2D animation. The simil-rotoscoping look was in fact created with a mix of traditional hand drawn animation and 3D animation.

Vladislav Delay is one of the pseudonyms of Sasu Ripatti, a Finnish electronic musician. He has also recorded as Luomo, Sistol, Uusitalo and Conoco.

Toive is a track from his 2009 album, entitled Tummaa and released for The Leaf Label.

Röyksopp’s Adventures in Barbieland

Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland of Röyksopp, respectively as a sleeping hobo and an old man, spent some time in Barbieland, which is what you would expect to be Waylon Smithers’ house.

The video is a promotional vehicle for the launch on their next album, entitled Senior and scheduled in September. The director is Andreas Nilsson.

NIKITA OVSYANNIKOV – Locked

A car thief (Oleg Maltsev) wakes up, after a night out, in a car he stole. He is tied up and locked in the car. He can’t even imagine how big of a surprise is waiting for him; because every car has an owner.

A short film written, directed and edited by Nikita Ovsyannikov. The song is called Odinokaya garmon. The film was shot on a Canon HV20 with the Twoneil 35mm adapter, using only one source of light.

Here’s another sprite animation by Paul Robertson. It reminds us that we’ll live forever in the heart of those who loved us. And/or that ultra violence and ultra cute characters mix very well.

Qua is electronic musician Cornel Wilczek. Devil Eyes is a track on his 2007 album Painting Monsters On Clouds.
