This is the graduation movie by Jan Schoenwiesner. The music is a song by Amon Tobin. A short insight in the making of the movie follows.

And here's our first post from Supinfocom 2007 vintage. Others will follow soon, I hope. In Musicotherapie, a doctor is driven mad when his patients start a jam session using objects they find in the hospital rooms. Kind of eBoy meets Music for One Apartment and Six Drummers. With that matchless style that you'd expect from the French school. The authors of the movie are: Amaël Isnard, Manuel Javelle and Clément Picon. Music by Nicolas Baloche and Benjamin Fournier.

Ecco il nostro primo post dell'annata 2007 di Supinfocom. Altri seguiranno a breve, spero. In Musicotherapie, un dottore è portato alla follia quando i suoi pazienti iniziano una jam session con gli oggetti trovati nell'ospedale. Tipo eBoy incontra Music for One Apartment and Six Drummers. The previous three posts shows three hilarious spots realized for Berlitz Language School, in which motion graphics depict misheard lyrics for popular songs from the 80s. The campaign has been realized at DDB Berlin creative agency by creative directors Bert Peulecke and Stefan Schulte with artistic direction by Marc Isken and Christian Jakimowitsch. Ouch!

Just posted a recent work by David Lowery. Well, he's been here before with Some Analog Lines, a film about filmmaking, focused on the differences between computer graphics and stop animation. This very short bit by Meindbender is an attempt to get the same feeling as claymation using software, Maya in this case. And it is also funny as hell!

Appena postato un pezzo recente di David Lowery che era già stato qui con Some Analog Lines, un cinema sul fare cinema, incentrato sulle differenze fra la computer grafica e la stop animation. Questo cortissimo, opera di Meindbender, tenta di ricreare l'effetto della claymation via software, Maya in particolare. Ed è anche divertente. Cavoli se lo è!

Solomon Grundy is a 19th century children's nursery rhyme, and was presented by James Orchard Halliwell-Phillipps in 1842. The poem is essentially a riddle in which the life of Solomon Grundy appears to take place in the process of a single week. (Source: Wikipedia) Ken Seward and Chris Myers, from Savannah College of Art and Design, did this short and sweet movie based on the story of Solomon Grundy. The team was also comprised of Natalie Moore, Josh Muntain, Jen-Feng Tsai, Suresh Narayanasami and Craig Dunn. The animated storyboard follows.

Our heroes, the space pirates, are coming back from their last battle, another umiliating defeat, when they shipwreck, being forced to land on an unknown planet. What you'll see (or you've seen) is the cinematic intro for the videogame Les Pirates du Pelican. Both the game and the clip have been developed by students of the A.T.I. (Art et Technologie de l’Image) at the Université Paris VIII. The movie has been directed by Jérôme Bietrix, Mathieu Gérard, Sylvain Grain and Vanessa Jorry. Music composed, orchestrated and directed by Mathieu Alvado. Audio mixing by Benoît Navarret. Sound effects by Tamara Demicheli. Antoine Ferrieux and Célia Demère were involved in the development of the game.

I nostri eroi, pirati spaziali, stanno ritornando dalla loro ultima battaglia, l'ennesima umiliante sconfitta, quando naufragano su di un pianeta sconosciuto. Quanto vedrete (o avete visto) è l'introduzione per il videogioco Les Pirates du Pelican. Sia il gioco che il video sono stati sviluppati da studenti dell'A.T.I. While a kid (Rowan Baer Peake) is boring himself at the park, suddenly, a glimpse of heaven makes him realize that he oughta build his dreams with his own hands. Despite of some flaws (directing kids must be a pain in the ass...) this short movie by Fernando de Souza is a delightful vision. It was part of the Harley-Davidson Video Project held by the UCSB Film and Media Studies and won by Invisible Harleys. The soundtrack is Superstar, performed by the Moptop.

Mentre un ragazzino (Rowan Baer Peake) si annoia al parco, un'improvvisa visione paradisiaca gli fa capire che i suoi sogni deve costruirseli con le proprie mani. A parte alcuni difetti (dirigere dei bambini deve essere un bel casino) questo corto di Fernando de Souza è una piacevole visione. Beautiful, lo-fi, animation from Amautalab on the music by Anne Laplantine. Yeah, I know I'm posting all their reel here, but I can't help it... Anne Laplantine is a French born, Germany based musician who released under several pseudonyms, one of these being Angelika Köhlermann. Angelika Koehlermann is also the name of the recording label who released her first album, she recorded as Michiko Kusaki. Confusing, uh? So, no wonder I can't find more informations about the video.

Anne Laplantine, nata in Francia ma di stanza a Berlino, è una musicista che incide sotto vari pseudonimi, fra cui, appunto, Angelika Köhlermann. Somebody just asked me what kind of clips are on my website. Luckily enough, I wasn't there to (not) answer... I mean: I know what kind of clips I don't post here, and this is reflected by the same name of this website. But what I do post? I guess it depends on so many factors (including my digestion and the humidity ratio of air) that there's no way to tell... The best definition of "no fat clip" you'll ever get is probably this recursive one.

Qualcuno mi ha appena chiesto che tipo di filmati ho sul mio sito. Fortunatamente non ero lì per (non) rispondergli. Insomma: io so che tipo di filmati non posto qui, da cui deriva anche il nome stesso di questo sito. Ma cos'è che posto? Credo dipenda da troppi fattori (inclusa la mia digestione ed il tasso di umidità dell'aria) perché possa essere spiegato... La miglior definizione di "no fat clip" che troverete mai è probabilmente questa.

Motionographer has a DVD rip of the Olivier/Michel Gondry spot for HP. I tried to remove the comb artifacts form the Quicktime file, but the resulting MP4 is far from perfect.

Commissioned by Black Dog Films, Forlorn is a short film, realized for the SOS Live Earth event, to raise awareness for the climate crisis. "A hurricane has demolished a city, what remains is a desolate and barren land. A solitary man meanders through the city exploring what once existed. His experiences of sadness, beauty and eventually solace transcends him to a place he has never encountered." Many thanks to Chris Hawkes who sent us the link to his new work, realized with his pal at Hi-Sim, Chuen Hung Tsang. If you hadn't before, check out their music video for the song Frangipani Fumes and Cosmetics by Leave Land for Water. The band also did the music for this short, along with Tim from Vexkiddy. Additional performers: Hannah Porter (violin) and Charlotte Nichols (cello).

This spot was created for Banco Itaú to invite amateur videomakers and photographers to take part on the Projeto Amanhã (Tomorrow Project). They are invited to interpret the meaning of tomorrow either through video, animation or photography. The video uses a diverse set of techniques to inspire people and to point out that there were no restrictions to format. The clip has been directed and designed by Carlos Baer and Dalton Uehara.

HEIN MEVISSEN - Rocket Bros.

Moving to another planet is not an option.

Follow our goofy rocketeers, Tom and George (Matt Jones and Brian Jack) while they try to reach for a distant shore to call it their new home. Rocket Bros. is a funny short movie realized for MTV Switch, an ongoing campaign for environmental awareness. It sums up well the message of the campaign (and the state of things): if we're not gonna get our act together very soon and stop battering the Earth, we're gonna need a bigger boat. Except that there's no suitable planet out there. The movie has been directed by Hein Mevissen and written by Diederikje Bok. The two of them also created the film at John Doe Amsterdam, the creative agency they co-founded. Hein Mevissen is represented by Pink Rabbit. Production has taken place at Het Kantoor Films. Director of photography is Jacco van Ree. Editor: Annelien van Wijnbergen. The movie has been post produced at Condor Digital. Miniatures realized by Anytime Decor. The theme song has been composed by Geert van Gaalen at Studio de Keuken and sung by Marco Bakker. The same studio did the sound design.

Suddenly, the leg of a robot starts acting on its own will. The poor machine is then forced to break its schemes... An ode to individualism? Or just the realization that every revolution changes things so everything stays the same, as in Il Gattopardo? Well, maybe it's "just" another sweet short to enjoy... The movie is the thesis film by Bevin Carnes, a student of Ringling College of Art and Design.

D'improvviso, la gamba di un robot prende vita propria. Il povero automa sarà costretto ad uscire dai propri schemi. Ode all'individualismo? O il rendersi conto che ogni rivoluzione cambia tutto per non cambiare nulla, come ne Il Gattopardo? Non lo so. Probabilmente è "soltanto" un altro bel corto... Il film è il progetto di tesi di Bevin Carnes, studentessa della Ringling College of Art and Design.

A tale of the sun, the moon and two characters who inhabit a world that relies on day and night perhaps more than it would seem. Balances in nature are delicate. We can achieve more if we work together to preserve those balances than breaking 'em. Solar is a short animated film by Ian Wharton and Edward Shires, recent creative graduates from Cumbria Institute of the Arts, UK. Music by Simon Koudriavtsev AKA Skoud Music.

Storia del sole, della luna e di due personaggi che abiatano un mondo che ha bisogno del giorno e della notte più di quanto possa sembrare. Gli equilibri in natura sono delicati. I'm not even trying to define what you're about to see. Some good stop motion (is there ugly stop motion?) can achieve such poetry when done by the right hands. Seabear is a band from Iceland, formed by Sindri Már Sigfússon and currently comprised of eight members. Hands Remember is featured on their latest album entitled The Ghost That Carried Us Away, released for Morr Music. The music video has been directed and animated by Lars Skjelbreia.

Non ci provo nemmeno a definire questo video. La buona stop motion (ché esiste anche quella cattiva?) può arrivare alle vette della poesia, nelle mani giuste. Our heroes tought they landed on the Planet of the Apes. Turns out is actually is the set for some Ray Harryhausen movie. The Outline is an experimental band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2002 whose members are Graham Fink, Austen Lee and Max St. John. (Source: Wikipedia) Death To Our Enemies is featured on their latest album, You Smash It, We'll Build Around It, released on July 11, 2006 for Fearless Records. The name of the album is a reference to a slightly modified quote from John Lennon. The video has been directed by Stuart Ortiz at Digital Interference. It was made with a 1500 dollars budget, and two weeks of post production work.

zZz - Grip

Here's a cool project developed by Roel Wouters AKA Xelor. What follows is adapted from his website. Grip is a video clip for the band zZz (Bjorn Ottenheim AKA Tjees and Daan Schinkel). It is a one take, top shot videoclip with professional trampoline gymnasts (Sven Mooij, Kirsten Boersma, Renaud Victor) simulating typical video effects you usually see on visualization plug ins found in popular multimedia players. The video has been recorded live as part of the opening Nederclips, a showcase of Dutch videoclips at the Stedelijk museum. The project was commissioned by the TAX Videoclip Fonds and an important criteria was that the audience of the opening was be able to witness the whole shoot, another criteria was that it should be added to the exhibition imediately after the shoot was done. No option to reshoot or edit if something went wrong.

Girato in un unica ripresa, dall'alto, fa uso di atleti di trampolino elastico professionisti (Sven Mooij, Kirsten Boersma, Renaud Victor) che simulano i tipici effetti che di solito si vedono nei plug-in di visualizzazione dei lettori multimediali. Il video è stato registrato live, come parte dell'apertura di Nederclips, mostra di videoclip olandesi al museo Stedelijk. Il progetto è stato commissionato da TAX Videoclip Fonds ed un importante criterio era che il pubblico avrebbe dovuto poter assistere a tutte le riprese; inoltre, il pezzo sarebbe stato aggiunto alla mostra immediatamente dopo che le riprese fossero finite. Niente secondo ciak né montaggio se qualcosa andava storto.

From his tower, a singing Big Brother, Donald Fagen is watching drones moving around. When our hero breaks the routine, he gets and electric shock and decides that enough is enough. "It's a simple little story, but it's visually fascinating. Many of the drones' actions are looped, perhaps to signify the near-robotic existence they live. The landscape sets are beautiful in their construction, although they paint a rather dark future society." (Source: Director File) Donald Jay Fagen is an American musician and songwriter, best known as co-writer, co-founder, singer, and pianist with the jazz-rock band Steely Dan. (Source: Wikipedia) Snowbound is featured on his second solo album, Kamakiriad, released in 1993 for Reprise Records, and produced by Walter Becker, the other half of Steely Dan. The video has been directed by (guess who?) Michel Gondry. Who else? The video is present only on some editions of The Work of Director Michel Gondry DVD. If you want to be sure to get it is available on the 2003 audio DVD release of Kamakiriad.

Motorola: The Journey

Motorola brings us again on a journey through out the history of cinema, with an emphasis on aspect ratios. The film is made up of ten different scenes that represent stages of cinematic history. Opening with a zoetrope showing the movement of a sequence of still images taken by photographer Edward Muybridge, the film culminates in a spectacular ninja scene. The commercial was directed by Nicolai Fuglsig at MJZ. Post production by Ben Stallard and his team at The Moving Picture Company. The creative agency is Abbot Mead Vickers BBDO.

Motorola ci porta di nuovo a spasso per la storia del cinema. Stavolta l'enfasi è posta sul formato delle immagini. The video has been realized in 1999 by Alessandro Bavari. Take a look (or more than a look) at his photographics works too, like Sodoma e Gomorra. Thanks to Piero who, time ago, let me know about both this video and the Einstürzende Neubauten. And thanks to all the people who submitted it to me. Bel corto che narra le cronanche di un quotidiano lavaggio del cervello. Headcleaner è un brano degli Einstürzende Neubauten, presente sul loro album del 1993 intotolato Tabula Rasa. Il video è stato realizzato da Alessandro Bavari nel 1999. Date uno sguardo (ma anche più di uno) ai suoi lavori fotografici, come Sodoma e Gomorra. A girl (Annalisa Addison) is excited about her new toy (Kate Ellery) and then... The Doll is a short film about death, desire and robots, inspired by the infamous Real Doll sex toys, Greek myths and "countless teenage evenings watching straight-to-video sci-fi b-movies of dubious quality". Lascivious approached Wyld Stallyons in late 2006 with the idea of producing a short film which would act as a viral campaign for the lingerie brand, and also a promo piece for Wyld Stallyons. The movie, written, produced and directed by Wyld Stallions, features music by Hecq. More credits here.

Turns out that one of my favourite songs has a music video. Well, not actually. These are visuals realized by Lynn Fox for the Greatest Hits Tour from 2003. Unravel is the third track from Björk's 1997 album Homogenic, written by Björk and Guy Sigsworth. Lynn Fox realized several clips for Björk's tour, all produced at Colonel Blimp.

Esce fuori che una delle mie canzoni preferite ha un video. Non proprio. Si tratta di un filmato realizzato da Lynn Fox per il Greatest Hits Tour del 2003. Happiness Factory is a 60" commercial realized last year by Psyop for Coca Cola. Now, we are given the opportunity to meet the guys who worked so hard to spread happiness all around. The short mockumentary has been produced, once again, by Psyop. Directors: Todd Mueller and Kylie Matulick. Creative agency: Wieden + Kennedy, Amsterdam.

DAVID VEGEZZI - Through Her Eyes

I stop the clock in my heart.

Director David Vegezzi lets us (that is me) know about Future Visions, a viral campaign by New Line Cinema to promote the feature film The Last Mimzy. Five directors have been asked to make a short movie which explores the insights of children about the time and the future. Free from the reason and the logic of the world of the adults, the kids are able to see life in ways adults don't have the time or even notice anymore. Through Her Eyes has been directed by David Vegezzi. While is colleagues took a documentary approach, he plays with the flow of time in a more direct way. The movie is shot in still photography (or pixilation, if you prefer) and then assembled thru post processing. The speech was written by Jean Paul Travers and played by Kayla Girling. Produced by David Vegezzi and Brooks Martin at Schematic. Music by Circle of Sound.

Il regista David Vegezzi ci (cioè mi) segnala Future Visions, una campagna virale di New Line Cinema per la promozione del loro film The Last Mimzy. A cinque registi è stato chiesto di realizzare un corto che esplorasse i pensieri dei bambini sul tempo ed il futuro. Liberi dalla logica e dal raziocinio degli adulti, i bimbi vedono la vita in modi che noi non riusciamo più a (o non abbiamo più tempo per) notare. Through Her Eyes è stato diretto da David Vegezzi. Mentre i suoi colleghi hanno scelto l'approccio da documentario, David ha giocato col fluire del tempo in maniera più diretta. Il film è realizzato da singole foto (in pixilation, se preferite) messe insieme in post produzione. Jean Paul Travers ha scritto il testo, recitato da Kayla Girling. La produzione è di David Vegezzi e Brooks Martin presso Schematic. La musica è dei Circle of Sound.

Sorry for the three day hiatus. To apologize, I'm uploading something special. You'll love it! Hard to describe the movie in a meaningful way. I think it's about the endless repetition of our daily routine which, eventually, led to the death of each and every feeling we used to express thru our actions. But it's just my interpretation. Produced at Se-Ma-For, the film has been written and directed by Marek Skrobecki with a peculiar technique which uses life size claymation! The soundtrack has been composed by Michał Lorenc, except obviously for the final bit, which is the Lacrimosa from W.A. Mozart's Requiem.

Mi scuso per i tre giorni di pausa. Per farmi perdonare, eccovi qualcosa di davvero speciale! Difficile descrivere il film significativamente. Credo il punto sia la continua ripetizione del nostro quotidiano che, alla fine, porta alla morte di ogni sentimento che solevamo esprimere con le nostre azioni. Ma è solo la mia interpretazione. Prodotto presso Se-Ma-For, il film è stato scritto e diretto da Marek Skrobecki con una peculiare tecnica che impiega claymation a grandezza naturale! La colonna sonora è stata composta da Michał Lorenc, tranne ovviamente per il pezzo finale, la Lacrimosa dal Requiem di W.A. Mozart.

Yesterday, while I was taking issues with my htaccess file, some of you might have seen this guy appearing instead of the regualar clips. Sorry, no harm intended. Now everything should be working fine. Only some of my Dutch friends at af***ers.nl will still see the Sailor Bubba. If the clip will be appreciated I've got a whole load ready to upload: the Goatse, the Tub Girl, the Dirty Sanchez. You can also choose your favourite one.

Ieri, mentre litigato col file htaccess, potreste aver visto spuntare questo tizio al posto delle normali clip. Me ne scuso, non era mia intenzione disturbare la vostra navigazione. This is a bumper for the Berlin and Beyond Film Festival that takes place at the Castro Theater in San Francisco, California. The clip has been realized by Marlon Torres, Romero Alves, Yi-Chia Mu AKA Betty, Peter Alan Davy, and John Arellano, senior students of the Animation program at San Francisco State University, with professor Raquel Coelho as director.

Stop motion animation realized by Juergen Kling at Weirdoughmation and by Susanna Jerger, helped by Christiane Rvmer and Daniela Smets.
