The year was 2002, DJ Shadow was keen to try something new and different for this video and approached Wong Kar-Wai, one of his favorite filmmakers. The idea was to make a short film revolving around the song’s hook line: “Tomorrow never comes until it’s too late….” (Source: iFilm) The plot centers around a guy who, upon discovering his girlfriend has betrayed him, tries to destroy all traces of their relationship, eventually realizing that what is done cannot be undone. The cast features Chang Chen (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) as the lead actor and Danielle Graham, Asia’s top model, who plays his woman. The video was shot by famed cinematographer Christopher Doyle, who has worked on all of Wong Kar-Wai’s films. DJ Shadow (real name Josh Davis) is a turntablist musician. His debut album, Entroducing….. made in the Guinness World Book of Record , being the first entirely sampled music album. He also produced most of the tracks in U.N.K.L.E.’s Psyence Fiction, one of my favourite album. Wong Kar-Wai is a Hong Kong based film director known for his unique visual style of romantic art films. His work includes In the Mood for Love and my favourite Hong Kong Express. |

Le luci sono ovviamente del mestro Christopher Doyle, che ha praticamente lavorato in tutti i film di Wong Kar-Wai. DJ Shadow (vero nome Josh Davis) è un musicista “da console”. Il suo album d’esordio, Entroducing….. è entrato nel Guinness dei primati, trattandosi del primo album interamente campionato. Ha anche prodotto tracce per Psyence Fiction degli U.N.K.L.E. uno dei miei album preferiti.
