APOCALYPTICA – Wie Weit (How Far)

Rock music isn’t to do with the instrument you play, but the attitude you keep.
This is proven Apocalyptica, the finnish metal band formed by Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Perttu Kivilaakso, (and formerly Max Lilja) : all of them are classically-trained cellists.

Apocalyptica is also the name of their latest album, released in January 2005. In the limited edition, it feaures the extended track Wie Weit and the english version of the same song, How far, both released as singles in February.

Wie weit features drums by Mikko Siren (recently joined to the group) and vocals by Marta Jandová, lead singer of the german band Die Happy.

The video, directed by Uwe Flade, has a retro-futuristic look, with images artificially aged, and recalls subtly of Metropolis by Fritz Lang. The main link points to the german version of the video, because it is has higher video quality. English version is available on Apocalyptica website.

Il rock non ha nulla a che fare con lo strumento che suoni: e’ uno stato mentale!
Cio’ e’ quanto dimostra la band metal finlandese Apocalyptica, formata da Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Perttu Kivilaakso, (e precedentemente Max Lilja), tutti violoncellisti di stampo classico.

Apocalyptica e’ anche il nome dell’ultimo album, uscito nel gennaio 2005. Nella limited edition, inoltre, e’ inclusa la traccia aggiuntiva Wie Weit e la versione inglese How far, entrambe uscite come singoli in febbraio.

Wie weit e’ arricchita dalle percussioni di Mikko Siren (recente acquisto del gruppo) e dalla voce di Marta Jandová, centante della band tedesca Die Happy.

Il video, diretto da Uwe Flade, ha un look retro-futuruistico, con tanto di immagini invecchiate artificialmente, e ricorda vagamente Metropolis di Fritz Lang.
Posto la versione tedesca perche’ ha migliore qualita’ video. Quella inglese si trova sul sito della band.
